My heartbeats
have become sparse, and
inequally spaced.
You stole them,
storing them in your drums
and saving them for when
you will parade in the square,
one lonely percussionist,
selling the throbs of my core,
until your tin is full
of thoughtless dollars and coins.
For who knew,

Healthy and Light Italian Dining
My friends from Biochemistry Lab went out to dinner. They insisted on Italian which triggered my carb alert meter. Honestly, the idea of a plate full of pasta and sauce scares me nowadays…ahhhh REFINED CARBS! However, I ordered a delicious and satisfying Grilled Shrimp Salad!
When eating out at a restaurant without published nutrition facts, order a salad with dressing on the side. You can easily estimate the caloric contents of the ingredients (i.e. looks like 1/4th of an avocado, 4 shrimps, 3 cups of lettuce, cup of bell peppers and various vegetables, 2 spears of asparagus, 2 tablespoons of regular dressing).
And please do not isolate yourself if you are on a diet or just trying to eat healthier…Hermits are not healthy!
What not to do: order a side salad, no dressing…this will invite awkward questions and damper the fun.
TIGER “Dancing” in the Water
Panthera tigris
©Birte RaglandThe tiger (Panthera tigris), a member of the Felidae family, is the largest of the four “big cats” in the genus Panthera. The tiger is native to much of eastern and southern Asia, and is an apex predator and an obligate carnivore. The larger tiger subspecies are comparable in size to the biggest extinct felids, reaching up to 3.3 metres (11 ft) in total length, weighing up to 300 kilograms (660 pounds), and having canines up to 4 inches long. Aside from their great bulk and power, their most recognizable feature is a pattern of dark vertical stripes that overlays near-white to reddish-orange fur, with lighter underparts. The most numerous tiger subspecies is the Bengal tiger, while the largest is the Siberian tiger.
Tigers have a lifespan of 10–15 years in the wild, but can live longer than 20 years in captivity. They are highly adaptable and range from the Siberian taiga to open grasslands and tropical mangrove swamps.
